the police believe they have a serial robber behind bars. and dozens spending the 4th of july as american citizens and that ceremony in center city. the details, a major mistake at the centers for disease control may have exposed dozens of employees to anthrax. earlier this month, they may have put live anthrax into the air at the head quarters in atlanta. now the c.d.c. is feverously working to find out what went wrong. and karen travers reports. >> one of the most secure biological facilities in the world. today the c.d.c. is scrambling and 75 workers there are being treated for potential exposure to live anthrax. the world's deadliest disease and viruses studied in atlanta from ebola to smallpox. between june 6 and 13 there was a major breach in procedures

that may have led to leaking of anthrax into the air, happening between when transferred between labs. >> unfortunately the new method for killing the anthrax didn't work and people received samples that have live anthrax in them. >> the employees were not wearing the necessary protective gear. the c.d.c. told "action news" we are devastated, it is unacceptable. we are going to find out what went wrong and are going to fix it. if anthrax is inhaled and untreated about 85% of cases result in death. even with treatment the fatality rate can be as high as 45%. the symptoms include fever, chills, shortless of breath, confusion, businessesiness and headache. the employees exposed were treated with antibiotics and the anthrax vaccine. one good thing, no risk to the greater c.d.c. familiar little or families. >> and it does not spread from

person-to-person. you can occasionally get it from clothing, but all outer clothes left in the lab. >> the symptoms can take up to two months to appear. arrested the problemer behind seven bake hold ups. 43 year old joseph mieluchowski. and they say he grew more violent in each heist. using a hand gun and demanded cash and mieluchowski charged with 16 counts of robbery and one count of kidnapping and other charges. he is behind bars on nearly $1 million bail. valley. tracking the progress of the front as it gets closer to our region overnight tonight and for the start of the weekend. and speaking of the weekend, sake saying hello to summer. and it is the longest day and the shortest night, and the sun will be at its highest point in the sky. at that point the sun will be at its strongest. something to look forward to in that regard. however, it's going to be all about location as we get into the weekend. here is the set up on saturday, tracking the front yam boundary dipping to the south. a little ripple of energy along that front. some clouds and some showers arrive, mainly south of the city with the high temperature of 77. but it will be brighter to the north. so if your heading out to the firefly concert in dover, a better shot of finding a shower. in the lehigh valley or the poconos tomorrow, you are going to be ok. as we get into sunday, the high pressure moves it and high temperature up to 82 degrees. a gorgeous finish to the start of our summer weekend. traveling down the shore we have you covered.

♪ >> "action news," delaware valley's leading news program with ducis rodgers, meteorologist cecily tynan and jim gardner. >> friday night.cily tynan and a worker killed during the demolition of an old video shore in south jersey. a water main break knocks out service top over 100 homes in south philadelphia. word that a second person died in the wake of the deadly crash this morning on the atlantic city expressway. a 35 year old man was dead at the scene, and five other people seriously injured when a white pick up truck hit the guard rail and flipped over. and a 4 year old girl at cooper hospital died late this

afternoon. the accident backed up westbound traffic for hours. "action news" reporter, david henry, is live at cooper university hospital where the driver is being treated tonight. david? >> yeah, that's right, jim. the two most critically injured victims that accident were brought here to cooper university medical center. the driver of that pick up truck, and that 4 year old girl. and just a short while ago, a little over an hour ago, we sadly learned the child had passed away. the horrific accident happened around 7:00 this morning. the pickup truck heading west towards philadelphia on the atlantic city expressway passing the farley service plaza and it slammed into a guard rail and flipped over. three people riding in the cab, three others in the open bed of the truck. all six were ejected. a passenger in the cab, 35 year old jammes dennis, was killed. ment driver, 45 year old roselyn kornegay and a 4 year old girl in the cab were critically injured.
